Anchor head sealant
In deep construction pits it is often required to anchor the enclosing walls, many times designed as a bored pile wall or slotted wall.
A grouted anchor becomes necessary when the earth thrust on the backside is too high, and is installed through the enclosing wall. When the water level rises, these types of penetrations to enclosing walls tend to leak water into the construction pit, which is undesirable due to the following reasons:
- When rinsing fine particles out of the layers of foundation soil, hollow spaces can be formed which the lead to fissures and settlement.
- The permeating water becomes a hindrance to the construction work or even makes further work impossible.
- Depending on the region, laws regarding water prohibit groundwater from be pumped out.
- Even when allowed, the costs involved with sump drainage on-site should not be underestimated.
The VARIOSEAL sealant system for anchor heads provides for an injection in the afflicted penetration. In this procedure an injection agent is used which reacts only with water to form a sealing polymerization and fill all existing hollow spaces and voids.
The injection agent used by VARIOSEAL in this situation reacts based on the amount of rising water as well as the amount of water pressure. The higher the amount of water and pressure, the quicker the VARIOSEAL injection agents begins to work.
This injection system has many advantages over other conventional methods:
- The problem area is sealed immediately, directly at the site of leakage.
- The results of the restoration can be inspected immediately.
- The reaction always matches the need, due to the water-reactive injection agent.
- Environmental tolerability.
- Can be used even in cases of strong water pressure.
- Proven, guaranteed protection against corrosion for steel reinforcements, because the use of salts is completely eliminated.
