Hammerhead sealant

In cases of the preventative sealing of a hammerhead, VARIOSEAL uses a modified acrylic resin as the injection agent, specifically designed for these conditions. Upon mixing the two components of the injection agent, a creamy intermediate substance is formed which only becomes flowable under shearing stress, which can now be used under controlled conditions.

VARIOSEAL optimizes the procedure (and also the material usage) by way of a two level injection. The injection agent is introduced to the previously installed multiply fillable injection tubes, injected under pressure and any excess injection agent is removed by means of a vacuum pump so as to avoid air inclusions. After this process the tube is ready for follow-up injections due to being prepared with specially matched separating agents.

During the pre-injection, only a small amount of the injection agent is discharged from the working joint. This discharge is desired and necessary to seal the joint to the exterior. In this manner the necessary skewback for the main injection is achieved.

The final VARIOSEAL sealant is applied by way of a second injection. The same procedure is followed as by the first injection, so that the injecting pressure stays present over longer periods of time.

The injection tube is then rinsed again even after the second injections, leaving the system intact for further injections, when necessary.

To prove the effectiveness of the VARIOSEAL Sealant system for this specific sealing assignment, a test was conducted by a well-known, large German construction company in which a model joint created in the shape of a hammerhead was blasted with water measuring 290 pounds of pressure per square inch for 10 minutes straight, which corresponds to a column of water 200 meters in height. The area of the joint which was sealed with the VARIOSEAL system was still completely sealed.

The results of the treatment can be tested immediately by building up water pressure on the multiple use injection canals.
Environmental tolerability.
